The focus of this course is fashion and aesthetics with an emphasis on the analysis of our visual response to different styles of fashion. Students will learn about the Apparel Body Construct framework developed by DeLong (1998) and how to use the framework as a foundation to build an understanding of fashion sold to and worn by various market segments. Using creative thinking and problem-solving techniques, relationships will be explored between markets, products, and the direction of fashion. By the end of the semester, each student's eye and mind will be well trained to look more deeply and visually analyze fashion from textiles to finished looks.
