HSM4301: Quality and Patient Safety in Healthcare Management

This course examines the fundamental principles, strategies, and best practices for ensuring quality and patient safety in healthcare management. Students will examine key frameworks, including evidence-based quality improvement models, change management, and regulatory requirements. Topics include process and outcome measurement, patient-centered care, adverse event prevention, leadership in quality improvement, and the use of data in quality improvement. Through case studies and real-world applications, students will develop the skills for continuous quality improvement, conduct a root cause analysis, and foster a culture of high reliability in healthcare settings. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to lead and manage quality and patient safety efforts in diverse healthcare environments.
