INET4165: Security I: Cybersecurity Essentials

An in-depth look at the information security profession. Focuses on real-world IT security issues and processes rather than any particular technology or product solution. Topics include risk assessments/pen testing, ethics, malicious code, preservation of business continuity/disaster recovery, security policies and procedures, security awareness, encryption, privacy and legal issues, intruder detection, forensics, secure web design, incident response, vulnerability assessment, and security audits. Prerequisite: INET 4001 or equivalent experience in operating systems and a general understanding of networks and the internet.
