JPN3031: Third Year Japanese I

This course is the first half of a two-semester sequence of Third-Year Japanese. The course aims to develop the four communication skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing, as well as strategies for carrying on a conversation. Based on the guidelines that American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ALCFL) has made, you will aim to reach the level of Intermediate High by the end of this course. You are expected to spend two to three hours per day outside the classroom at least preparing for class every day. In the University language programs, a grade of C- or better (or S) is required to continue to the next level, JPN 3032/4006, the second half of a two-semester sequence of Third-Year Japanese. Otherwise, students are required to pass a placement test. prereq: JPN 3022/4004 or Placement Test
