In this course, you will develop an understanding of various health conditions through the lens of how Chemistry is applied in the medical laboratory. We will discuss electrolytes, blood gases, carbohydrates, lipoproteins, bone disorders, tumor markers, therapeutic drug monitoring, and cardiac, hepatic, renal, endocrine, and gastrointestinal disorders. We will correlate medically significant substances found in the body to pathophysiology and metabolic disorders. Discover how current analytical methods and applications allow Medical Laboratory Scientists to partner with healthcare professionals in diagnosing disease.prereq: BioC 3021 or equivalent
