PE1029: Handball

This course introduces students to the exciting sport of handball played on a four-wall court. Sometimes referred to as Wall Handball, Four-Wall Handball, or simply Handball, this sport combines elements of racquetball and squash into a fast-paced, physically demanding game. Students will learn the fundamentals of handball including stances, swings, serves, returns, kills, and basic offensive and defensive strategies. The course covers the official rules and scoring for singles and doubles play. Training will emphasize developing skills such as hand-eye coordination, agility, endurance, power, and court positioning through drills and gameplay. In addition to actively participating in drills and matches, students will learn about the history and terminology of the sport. The course aims to instill an appreciation for this unique and exhilarating sport while promoting overall fitness. By the end of the course, students will have the necessary skills and knowledge to participate recreationally in four-wall handball and continue developing their abilities independently. Proper athletic attire and non-marking court shoes are required. Prior experience is not necessary.
