This course is an introduction to the fundamental skills, techniques, and strategies of badminton. Designed for beginners, it combines lecture-based instruction with hands-on practice to provide a comprehensive learning experience. Approximately 25% of class time is dedicated to lectures covering the rules, scoring systems, etiquette, history, and evolution of the sport. The remaining 75% focuses on physical skill development through drills, demonstrations, and gameplay. Students will learn and practice essential badminton strokes?including serves, clears, drops, smashes, and net shots?along with proper footwork and court positioning. Instruction will also cover singles and doubles play, emphasizing the unique strategies and tactics of each format. Through structured practice games and partner activities, students will enhance their hand-eye coordination, agility, and overall fitness. Students will engage in activities that promote sportsmanship, teamwork, self-discipline, and effective communication. As part of the broader Physical Education curriculum, this course supports a lifelong commitment to physical activity. No prior experience is required. This course is open to all students who are eager to learn, grow, and thrive in a supportive and engaging environment. PE classes involve a moderate to high level of energy expenditure and are considered moderately to highly intense. It is recommended that students be aware of their health status and any limitations that may affect their ability to participate safely in the physical activities involved in the course.
