This course is designed to enhance students? proficiency in basketball by developing their technical skills, strategic understanding, and leadership abilities. Students will engage in comprehensive instruction covering fundamental and advanced techniques, including dribbling, shooting, passing, rebounding, defensive principles, and mental strategies for competitive play. The course also introduces the rules and mechanics of officiating basketball games, providing a well-rounded perspective on the sport. Instruction includes demonstrations, skill-building drills, and structured gameplay, allowing students to apply what they learn in real-time scenarios. In addition to physical development, students will have opportunities to practice teaching and leading basketball activities, fostering confidence, communication, and leadership skills. As part of the broader Physical Education curriculum, this course supports not only physical skill development but also personal growth and community building. Students will engage in activities that promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and self-discipline, encouraging a lifelong commitment to physical activity. Approximately 25% of class time is dedicated to lecture-based learning, while 75% involves hands-on physical skill development and practice. The course is open to all students and is designed for novices?no prior experience is required. PE classes involve a moderate to high level of energy expenditure and are considered moderately to highly intense. It is recommended that students be aware of their health status and any limitations that may affect their ability to participate safely in the physical activities involved in the course.
