This course will guide students through learning experiences rooted in the daily work of a pharmacist in order to build knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed for patient-centered, team-based care. Each Area of Science is represented with emphasis on developing and integrating knowledge to evaluate the scientific literature, explain drug action, solve therapeutic problems, and advance population health and systems of care. This module applies pharmaceutical science and care concepts to patient medication-related problems encountered in chronic conditions, formulating medication therapy problems, and care plans taking into account social determinants of health and the economics of medication choices. Students will develop knowledge and skills necessary to accomplish pharmacist tasks involving: chronic care in neurology, psychiatry, sex and gender-based care, and dermatology.
prereq: Second-year PharmD student, successful completion of Phar 6531, 6532 and 6533.
