PSY1911: Psychological Perspectives on Women and Work

Are you male or female? Your answer to this simple question will influence your experiences in the workplace. In this seminar, we will examine the empirical studies that document important gender differences in work. We will begin by learning about gender differences, with a focus on personality traits and cognitive abilities. Next, we will focus on specific issues such as the wage gap, prejudice and discrimination in the workplace, gender differences in leadership, the impact of motherhood on women's careers, and the influence of child care on psychological development.
