PUBH6803: Conducting a Systematic Literature Review

3 Credits

This project-based course trains students in the skills to conduct systematic literature reviews built on the framework of evidence-based practice. Drawing on the skills and experience of staff of the Minnesota Evidence-based Practice Center, an AHRQ-funded program, students complete a draft systematic literature review on a topic of their choosing. The course combines didactic classroom sessions with substantial project work as students perform each step in a review, receiving feedback at each stage in the process. The final deliverable for the course is a draft systematic literature review. This course is suitable for clinical residents, fellows, and junior faculty, doctoral students, and master's students planning a Plan B masters project. Secondarily, this course helps students develop skills to critically assess published systematic reviews in order to be educated consumers of evidence synthesis products.
