BIOL1805: Nature of Life: Introducing New Students to the Biological Sciences

Nature of Life is a three-semester course series (BIOL 1805, 1806, and 1807) that aims to help CBS students build community, connect to resources, and cultivate essential skills and habits of mind to foster their academic and future success. BIOL 1805, the first course of the series, is designed to help students establish themselves in CBS and the U of M, and will cover topics relevant to your first semester of college. BIOL 1805 is a one semester, one credit lecture course designed to meet a variety of student needs as they are introduced to the University of Minnesota and the College of Biological Sciences. Using reflection of students’ backgrounds and values as well as research into the new communities they join, students will explore various campus opportunities, learn new knowledge and skills needed to be successful in CBS and widen their CBS community through projects and activities.
