It will also hone students' advocacy, strategy, negotiation, and relationship building skills. Students undecided about practicing in this area will still benefit from this course and the keen understanding of the process it provides. It will help them discern whether their future clients need assistance in this area and how to obtain that help when needed. This course is centered on legal negotiations and strategy with some simulation exercises requiring deep engagement with the material, interaction with guest speakers, and regular class attendance. This course will explore legal negotiation and strategies required to be successful at the state legislature and analyze how legal strategy affects the legislative process. This includes participation in simulation exercises and attendance of an off-site class visit to the Minnesota State Capitol. The course will conclude with a final paper.
