Indian Law Moot Court focuses on practical writing and oral argument exercises common in modern litigation. The course will include a basic primer of the fundamentals of Indian Law. In the fall, students work on portions of, and then a full, appellate brief. In the spring, students continue to work with the same law and facts in an appellate venue. They rewrite the appellate brief and advocate in oral arguments. Topics might include the constitutionality or application of ICWA or thorny questions of tribal civil or criminal jurisdiction or interpretations of treaty rights.
